"Oh No! Mesa Disappearing" is a memorable quote uttered by the character Jar Jar Binks on the American animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Online, the image of the character disappearing has been used as reaction image macros.
Origin
On March 1st, 2014, the episode "The Disappeared, Part I" of the television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars aired in the United States.[1] In the episode, the character Jar Jar Binks (voiced by Ahmed Best) is sprayed with blue dust that turns him invisible. As he is transforming, he says, "Oh no! Mesa disappearing!"
On February 12th, 2017, YouTuber Voca Productions posted the clip. The post received more than 40,000 views in less than three years (shown below).
Spread
On August 10th, 2018, Redditor [2] CadenLucianArcher posted the image with the caption "Mesa not feelings so good." The post parodies the scene from the 2018 Avengers: Infinity War when Spider-Man says, "I don't feel so good.". Within two years, the post recieved more than 1,500 points (99% upvoted) and 50 comments (shown below, left).
The following month, on September 10th, Redditor[3] Hopefo posted a version with the caption "When your professor says attendance isn't mandatory." The post received more than 24,000 points (97% upvoted) and 150 comments (shown below, center).
On September 11th, Redditor[4] nicky_rich posted another Avengers: Infinity War reference. The post received more than 3,800 points (95% upvoted) and 40 comments in less than two years (shown below, right).
