Oh, You Haven't Heard? refers to a snowclone popular on Twitter and Tumblr in which a humorous dialogue plays out, resulting in the invention of a modern concept.

Origin

On March 12th, 2016, Twitter user @hashtagyolo11[1] tweeted the original joke, which read:

BOSS: you're an hour late
GUY WHO'S ABOUT TO INVENT DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME: oh you haven't heard?

The tweet gained over 13,000 retweets and 20,000 likes (shown below).

Spread

The format began spreading on Tumblr before spreading on Twitter. One of the earliest posts was made by captainsnoop on January 11th, 2017, gaining over 1,400 notes (shown below, left). A post by a-trex on November 27th gained over 64,000 notes (shown below, right). The Tumblr spread of the meme was covered by Meme Documentation on December 30th, 2017.[2]


Student: Teacher, you said that all words have to have a vowel in them and that the vowels are A, E,I, O, and U. What about words like "gym" or "sky?" Teacher who's about to invent the "Sometimes Y" rule: Oh, you haven't heard? Ye Olde Time Man 1: what happened to thee? Guy who severely burned self and is about to make up dragons: thee haven't heard?

The meme saw more spread on Twitter in early 2018. For example, a Tweet from January 31st by user @oodlenoodle_ gained 8 retweets and 34 likes (shown below, left). Twitter user @greatcometgirl posted a tweet on March 15th that gained 3 retweets and 12 likes in one day (shown below, right).
