Patrick Bateman's Ooh Face, also known as Christian Bale's Ooh Face, is a reaction image macro featuring a screenshot from the 2000 satirical horror film American Psycho. Memers use the image in a manner similar to other Ooh Faces, expressing feelings of ecstasy.

Origin

On April 14th, 2000, Lions Gate films released American Psycho in the United States.^[1] In the film, the characters Patrick Bateman and Paul Allen (portrayed by Christian Bale and Jared Leto). During the scene, Allen mistakes Bateman for someone else and objectifies Bateman's significant other, Evelyn. Bateman plays along with the mistake and makes an excited face when discussing Evelyn (clip below).

On July 2nd, 2009, YouTuber ^[2] MuRpHy1680 shared the clip, receiving more than 47,000 views in less than 12 years.

Over the next decade, the image grew in usage as a reaction image. On June 3rd, 2013, Carthrottle.com^[3] user
Gabor Szedlak posted a GIF of the moment in a list of "10 Funny GIFs That Express Your Reactions As A Driver" (shown below, left).

On January 19th, 2014, Imgur ^[4] user inthemixmike posted a GIF of the scene reacting to a snackfood. The post received more than 222,000 views and 6,900 points in less than seven years (screenshot below, center).

The meme continued to see usage in 2020. On December 8th, 2020, Instagram ^[5] memer Tank Sinatra posted the meme with the caption "When you're wrapping Christmas present and the scissors start to glide." The post received more than 47,000 points In less than 24 hours (shown below, right).
