Patrick Bateman on a Bike and Two Penguins Humping, also known as Patrick Bateman Bikes to Antarctica, refers to a crudely made 3D animation of American Psycho's Patrick Bateman (actor Christian Bale) riding a bicycle in Antarctica where he sees two penguins humping (specifically the penguins from Madagascar), then looks at a map with Russian text and then continues onward. The animation references a scene from Malcolm in the Middle where Reese Wilkerson is in the desert. The "Antarctica" version was then re-animated by other video creators on TikTok who replaced the setting, humping animals, map, Bateman's outfit and Bateman's vehicle. The videos used an Arabic-sounding version of the song "Perfect Girl" by Mareux. The trend started on TikTok in December 2022.

On November 22nd, 2022, TikToker^[1] casey100100100 posted a video about fleeing to Afghanistan by using a scene from Season 6, Episode 1 of the TV show Malcolm in the Middle, entitled "Reese Comes Home."^[2] In it, the character Reese Wilkerson rides a bicycle in a Middle Eastern desert, gets off, consults a map at a fork in the road and then continues onward (YouTube^[4] upload shown below). Before it appeared in memes on TikTok, the scene had been referenced on Twitter^[3] in January 2022, earning over 15,000 likes in 11 months.

On November 22nd, 2022, TikToker^[1] casey100100100 posted a video about fleeing to Afghanistan that used the aforementioned scene as well as a TikTok sound created by TikToker^[5] yad.oud on November 17th, 2022, which was an Arabic-sounding rendition of the song "Perfect Girl" by Mareux, which is widely regarded as a sigma male song. Over the course of 25 days, the video received roughly 250,800 plays and 31,100 likes (shown below, left). Multiple Russian-speaking TikTokers^[6] then used the format, ultimately leading to a video uploaded by TikToker^[7] priv_6573 on December 11th, 2022, that re-animated the scene using American Psycho character Patrick Bateman's face, the penguins from Madagascar and a Russian map reading "заказчик здесь," which translates to "the customer is here." The top text of the video jokes about Bateman being a courier who accidentally went to Antarctica. Over the course of four days, the TikTok received roughly 1.1 million plays and 139,200 likes (shown below, right).

On December 12th, 2022, a cropped version of the video was posted on VK^[8] by the page Dude, earning roughly 36,200 views in two days. Also on December 12th, 2022, TikToker^[9] davidanimator3d posted the first-known re-animation of the video, using the same song but showing Bateman in a desert with a camel. Over the course of two days, the video received roughly 1.8 million plays and 285,200 likes (shown below, left). Later on December 12th, 2022, TikToker^[10] priv_6573 posted a follow-up to their original which instead showed Bateman jumping on the two humping penguins. Additionally, the top white text made a joke about a time traveler breathing the air in the future. Over the course of two days, the video received roughly 1 million plays and 129,200 likes (shown below, right).

Many increasingly complex variations surfaced on TikTok in the days that followed. For instance, on December 14th, 2022, TikToker^[11] _n0varg posted an iteration in which Bateman is on the moon and sees two aliens humping, gaining roughly 782,000 plays and 128,600 likes in one day (shown below, left). Also on December 14th, TikToker^[12] haildasun used both of TikToker^[7][10] priv_6573's videos, writing in text overlay, "there are two types of people in our society." The video received roughly 554,100 plays and 83,900 likes in one day (shown below, right).
