Overview

AdeptTheBest is an American streamer from Texas who began her Twitch career in early 2016. Adept's real name is Sam, and she typically streams herself playing games like Counter-Strike, Grand Theft Auto and Overwatch alongside her Just Chatting content. Adept is well-known for dating streamer xQc, with the two going through a highly publicized divorce in 2023. In October 2023, AdeptTheBest's Twitch account was notably banned, purportedly for showing private messages of xQc without consent despite no official reason being given.

Online History

AdeptTheBest, sometimes known by her real name Sam, is an American Twitch streamer born in Austin, Texas on March 3rd, 1994. Adept launched her YouTube^[1] channel on February 25th, 2016, with her earliest YouTube^[2] upload being an Overwatch-themed room tour that garnered 23,000 views since it was uploaded on March 26th, 2018 (seen below).

According to Streams Charts,^[15] Adept created her Twitch channel on February 24th, 2016, gathering over 2,800 followers on Twitch by January 2019 and peaking at 40,000 followers in September 2020.^[11]

In a November 27th, 2019, interview with Gen.G Esports,^[3] Adept talks about her motivations for starting to stream on Twitch, saying that for her it was a way to get people to play in her lobbies (seen below).

Relationship With xQc

Rumors about Adept and xQc dating began to swirl in 2018, despite both streamers' official stance being that they are "roommates." A December 26th, 2018, clip^[4] from xQc's stream shows Adept visiting him in Canada for Christmas, gathering over 500,000 plays in four years (seen below, left). xQc's appearance on Adept's birthday stream fueled rumors of the two dating, with a March 4th, 2019, clip^[5] from the stream gathering over 300,000 views on YouTube in roughly four years (seen below, right).

In March 2021, Adept made a series of posts on X confirming their longtime relationship after a clip of xQc hugging and kissing her went viral.^[6] On March 30th, 2021, Adept wrote on her X^[7] account (@adeptthebest), "What if I told you we were never just roommates 😳," gathering over 52,000 likes in two years (seen below).

However, on August 7th, 2021, xQc took to his X account to announce that the two were separated.^[8] The following months saw the couple undergoing a messy public separation and divorce under Texas Common Law. Specific points of contention were a $300,000 McLaren supercar supposedly registered under Adept's name but paid for by xQc, as well as Adept launching accusations against xQc.

On November 1st, 2022, a clip of xQc discussing the McLaren issue was reuploaded to the xQc Clips YouTube channel, receiving nearly 600,000 views in roughly a year (seen below).

AdeptTheBest October 2023 Twitch Ban

On October 3rd, 2023, AdeptTheBest was served a surprise ban from Twitch, which occurred during the middle of a livestream (reupload shown below).^[12]

As of October 4th, the platform and Adept have yet to confirm the reason the streamer was banned. Rumors claim Adept shared various private DMs of her former partner and xQc without consent, such as several Redditors discussing the ban on the /r/LivestreamFail^[13][14] subreddit.
