About

Aleksander Vinter is a musician and producer who specializes in a wide variety of compositional works across multiple genres such as electro house, dubstep and classical. Vinter is popularly known by his primary project and stage name Savant, which originates from savant syndrome, a condition of mental disability which manifests itself in vastly heightened abilities in a particular skill.

Online History

In 2009, Vinter released his first album, "Outbreak", under the name "Vinter in Vegas", which was nominated for a Norwegian Grammy Award and helped set up a record deal with SectionZ Records. He acknowledges the nomination as "the catalyst" for his subsequent works.

As Savant

On November 11, 2011, Vinter released Ninur, his debut album under the name "Savant".
Following Ninur , Vinter released four albums in 2012: "Vario" in February, "Overworld" in June, "ISM" in September and "Alchemist" in December.[1] On August 8, 2014, Vinter released "Protos", his tenth album.[2]
On July 1, 2016, Vinter released the music video for "Get It Get It", featuring Hip-Hop artists DMX and Snoop Dogg

As Blanco

On October 2010, Vinter released Mother of God And A Filthy Whore under the project name Blanco, an alias used to release tracks with moombahton and dance hall influences.
Vinter also released the remix of his track "Starfish" for the third anniversary of his album ISM. as well as additional singles throughout 2015, culminating into the EP Bajo which was released November of that year.
On October 10, 2015, Vinter announced that Blanco would be the alias used for his future EDM tracks, as he is no longer releasing EDM-style tracks under the Savant alias.[15]

Reputation

Vinter has made a sizable impact on the EDM community and other musical circles for his eclectic, non-conforming productions, unorthodox speed and frequency of releases, fantastical and elaborate outfitting, complete with iconic modified Guy Fawkes mask, and the on the spot editing and remixing of his tracks in live performances. Vinter has also received praise from producer Deadmau5 , claiming that "[Vinter] is the change that EDM needs"[16]

Savant – Ascent

On December 4, 2013, Savant – Ascent, developed by DPad Studios, was released on Steam, the App Store, the Google Play Store and Gamersgate.[4] It is a fast-paced action game starring Savant's avatar, an alchemist seeking to climb a magical tower and claim the Philosopher's Stone. The game features tracks by Savant, including "Kali 47"[6] and "Butterfly"[7] (both from the album Cult). The game went on to win the GameMaker's Game of the Year award later that year.[11]
On April 8, 2014, Savant – Ascent was added to the Humble Bundle: PC and Android 9 as a beat-the-average reward.[8] The bundle sold 179,831 units and made slightly over US$700,000.[10]

Personal Life

Despite being a well-known and successful musician, Savant has never had any formal music training. His early composing experiences were with Rave eJay, an early musical arrangement program, and FastTracker, a music tracker program, as well as performances with metal band No Funeral.
Savant cites several artists and video games for inspiration, including Daft Punk, Super Mario Bros. , Contra, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, the latter being Vinter's favorite game.[12]
