A Corruption Fetish or Corruption Kink is a fetish defined by a sexual desire towards corrupting another person or witnessing someone being corrupted. The idea of corruption fetishes has been appearing online since as early as 2010 on sites like 4chan, growing increasingly popular throughout the 2020s, inspiring art, memes and more.

Online History

The exact origins of the term "corruption fetish" are unclear. The earliest known use of the term online is a post to 4chan's /tg/^[1] board on June 1st, 2010, reading, "I blame self-loathing otaku like myself who can't project themselves into the scenes otherwise or have a corruption fetish." The term has been used over 680 times on the site in total, with several more examples from 2010, according to the 4plebs^[2] archival site.

One of the earliest known uses of the term outside of 4chan was posted by a now-deleted Redditor to the /r/psychoanalysis^[3] subreddit on April 18th, 2014 in a post titled, "Please analyze my corruption fetish regarding highly religious girls, girls in relationships, virgins, etc." The post text has the user admit to loving the idea of taking a "good girl" and corrupting her into a "whore." He wonders where this stems from. The post gained around 20 upvotes in 11 years.

Online Presence

Posts, memes and art referencing and catering to corruption fetishes became increasingly popular over the following years. On November 30th, 2016, Redditor u/prisonsuit-rabbitman posted a screenshot to /r/4chan^[4] of a 4chan "corruption thread" in which anons shared images of Pokemon being "corrupted" by other Pokemon, garnering over 130 upvotes in nine years.

On October 30th, 2023, Redditor u/Fight-Me-In-Unreal posted a meme to the /r/thomastheplankengine^[5] subreddit, a subreddit for sharing memes that people saw in dreams, referencing corruption fetishes, garnering over 3,100 upvotes in two years.

On August 20th, 2024, X^[6] user @BABYLAL0 made a post criticizing people who believe that lesbians can still like men, or that men can be lesbians, have a "lesbian corruption fetish," garnering over 1,400 likes in a year. On June 25th, 2025, X^[7] user @wormster4life posted a GIF of a man trying to get control of an exploding bottle of liquid under the caption, "mfs with a corruption fetish when I tell them about government corruption," garnering over 40,000 likes in two days.

On June 26th, X^[8] user @therealpanzer responded to the post, "what the fuck is a corruption fetish???" garnering over 165,000 likes and 5,500 reposts in a day.
