Cart Narcs is a content creator who posts videos where he confronts people who leave their shopping carts in the store parking lot rather than returning them to the cart corral, often calling them "lazy bones" and sticking Cart Narc magnets on the cars of people who refuse to return their carts. The Cart Narcs series started in 2018 as a spinoff of The Woody Show, a radio show based in Phoenix, Arizona previously hosted on ALT AZ 93-3. The series became popular on YouTube, Instagram and Facebook over the following years.

History

The Woody Show

On August 3rd, 2018, the YouTube[1] channel for The Woody Show, a morning radio show based out of Arizona, posted a video titled, "Cart Narcs – Shaming People Who Don't Put Back Carts!" In the video, producer Sebastian, or "Sebas," wanders around store parking lots in search of people who have left their shopping carts in the parking lot without returning them to the cart corral and gives them an opportunity to return them, resulting in several arguments. The video gained over 354,000 views in four years (shown below).

Between August 2018 and July 27th, 2020, The Woody Show YouTube[2] channel posted 31 additional Cart Narcs videos. On March 19th, 2020, The Woody Show uploaded a video to YouTube where a man threatens to kill Sebas for putting a magnet on his car after refusing to return his cart, gaining over 259,000 views in two years (shown below).

Expansion

On November 3rd, 2019, Cart Narcs started posting content to Instagram.[3] On February 7th, 2020, Cart Narcs posted their first video to a dedicated YouTube[4] channel, Cart Narcs. On February 8th, the Cart Narcs uploaded a video to YouTube[5] titled "I'm a Fat A-Hole" where a man gets into a heated argument with Sebas over not returning his cart, gaining over 2.3 million views in two years (shown below).

Online Presence

As of June 2022, Cart Narcs has over 360,000 subscribers on YouTube, 386,000 followers on Instagram and 592,000 followers on Facebook.[6] They sell a t-shirt on The Shop Forward.[7]

On April 7th, 2020, Cart Narcs uploaded a clip from the Joe Rogan Experience where Joe and Dan Crenshaw talk about the importance of returning shopping carts, gaining over 120,000 views in two years (shown below).

Notable Appearances & Interviews

On November 4th, 2021, Sebastian appeared on Season 20 Episode39 of Dr. Phil with Tromaine, a man who claims Sebastian harrassed him by confronting him about his shopping cart (shown below, left and right). During the segment, Tromaine denounces Sebastian for publically shaming people and Sebastian defends his videos.

On June 20th, 2022, Sebastian appeared on an episode of the H3 Podcast to talk about the series (shown below).
