Dom Mazzetti is a bodybuilder character portrayed by comedian Mike Tornabene, who is known for hosting the fitness humor YouTube series Bro Science Life. The character was created by Tornabene and comedian Gian Hunjan in late 2010[4] as a stereotypical gym bro from the New York metropolitan area.

History

Mike & Gian Channel

In October 2009, the Mike & Gian YouTube[8] channel was launched, featuring comedy skits performed by Tornabene and Hunjan. On November 29th, 2010, the channel uploaded a "Christmas PSA," in which the duo present various ways to surprise illegitimate children on Christmas (shown below).

Dom Mazzetti Channel

On January 10th, 2011, the Dom Mazzetti YouTube[1] channel was launched, with the first uploaded video featuring Tornabene answering various questions about terrorism as the Mazzetti character (shown below, left). The following day, the channel posted a video in which Mazzetti delivers a monologue about a night of drinking Four Loko alcoholic beverages (shown below, right). Within six years, the video received more than 2.06 million views and 400 comments.

On February 21st, 2012, a video in which Mazzetti discusses the acronym "YOLO" was released, garnering upwards of 1.9 million views and 1,000 comments in five years (shown below, left). On August 30th, 2012, NJ.com[11] published an interview with Tornabee and Hunjan, noting that the Dom Mazzetti videos had accumulated more than 30 million views. On May 2nd, 2013, a video in which Mazzetti discusses Snapchat was uploaded to the channel (shown below, right). Within four years, the video gathered over 1.9 million views and 900 comments. On June 24th, the last video was uploaded to the channel, in which Mazzetti discusses the Vine video-sharing site (shown below, right).

BroScienceLife Channel

On December 10th, 2012, the BroScienceLife YouTube channel was created, in which the Mazzetti character delivers various comedic monologues about fitness-related topics. On December 17th, the first video was uploaded to the channel, in which Mazzetti defines the slang term "bro science" as pseudoscience promoted within various fitness communities (shown below, left). On Ocotber 15th, 2013, a video titled "How to Get Your Girlfriend to Start Lifting" was uploaded to the channel, which received more than 9.8 million views and 4,000 comments over the next three years (shown below, right).

On December 5th, 2013, the channel uploaded a video mocking the Crossfit community (shown below, left). In three years, the video gained over 7.1 million views and 7,200 comments. On December 17th, 2014, the BroScienceLife channel released a video titled "How to be Alpha All the Time," which received more than 4.1 million views and 3,200 comments in two years (shown below, right).

The Swoly Bible

On November 1st, 2016, Tornabee released the comedy book The Swoly Bible: The Bro Science Way of Life, containing satirical fitness and lifestyle advice.[9] That day, Tornabee promoted the book by participating in an "ask me anything" thread on the /r/IAmA[10] subreddit as the Mazzetti character, which gained over 9,000 votes (66% upvoted) and 3,200 comments in the next 24 hours.

What later became the @DomMazzetti[3] Twitter feed was initially created in August 2009, gathering over 108,000 followers in the next seven years. In September 2012, the @dommazzetti[5] Instagram feed was launched, gathering upwards of 565,000 followers over the next four years.
