Juice Wrld was the stage name of American rapper Jarad Anthony Higgins. Popular for his emo-laced hip hop tracks, he released two studio albums and was known for hit songs such as "Lucid Dreams" and "All Girls Are the Same." On December 8th, 2019, Juice Wrld was pronounced dead after suffering a fatal seizure at the age of 21.

Online History

On February 9th, 2015, Juice Wrld released his first track "Forever" on SoundCloud under the name JuicetheKidd.[1] The track accumulated over 4.7 million streams and 80,700 likes in four years.

On March 17th, 2017, Juice Wrld released his first track "Too Much Cash" produced by his last producer Nick Mira.[2] On June 15th, 2017, Juice Wrld released his debut EP 9 9 9, with song "Lucid Dreams", which sampled Sting's "Shape of My Heart" bringing the artist widespread recognition.[3] The song gained over 984 million streams on Spotify in two years, with the music video, released on May 10th, 2018, gaining over 400 million views in one year (shown below).[4]

On May 23rd, 2018, Juice Wrld released his debut studio album Goodbye & Good Riddance,[5] with "Lucid Dreams" being officially released as the second single from the album on May 4th, 2018. On March 8th, 2019, Juice Wrld released his second studio album Death Race for Love.[6]

Death

On December 8th, 2019, TMZ reported that Juice Wrld died at the age of 21 after suffering a seizure in Chicago's Midway airport.[7] According to witness reports, the rapper suffered a seizure after deplaning from a flight from California to Chicago and walking through the airport building. The rapper died shortly after he was delivered to the hospital by the paramedics.

Following Juice Wrld's death, multiple musicians and celebrities shared posts in which they expressed their condolences on social media (posts shown below).[8][9]

Personal Life

Jarad Higgins was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 2nd, 1998. He attended Homewood-Flossmoor High School in Homewood, Illinois. Starting at the age of four, Juice Wrld learned to play piano, later also learning to play guitar, drums and trumpet. In the sophomore year of high school, Higgins started recording his rap songs on his cell phone, uploading them to SoundCloud.

Juice Wrld openly admitted to being a heavy drug user during his childhood and teens, starting to drink lean in sixth grade and using Percocet and Xanax.[13][14]

Just discovered this guy here today. His Lucid Dreams track is pretty bangin'. Sad and straightforward but quite palpable. And he seems like a great guy who's trying to connect with people going through the same things he went through in his life using his music. Part of me is hoping that theory of him faking his death was what happened here. He's too young to be leaving this world. RIP
