About

Limmy, real name Brian Limond, is a Scottish comedian who was best known for his sketch show, Limmy's Show, which featured several viral sketches. After the show was not renewed, Limmy went into Twitch streaming and has grown a substantial online following.

History

Limond was born on October 20th, 1974 in Scotland.[1] In January of 2010, the BBC premiered six episodes of his sketch show, Limmy's Show.[2] A second series aired the following year, and a third the year after. In the following decade, he appeared in small roles on The IT Crowd and Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe while he grew his online presence through various platforms, including Twitter, Twitch, and Vine.

Online Presence

Online, Limmy has generated a strong following on various platforms. On Twitter,[3] he has gained over 460,000 followers since joining in November of 2010. He also has over 136,000 followers on Twitch,[4] where he chats, makes up stories, and plays video games. He has over 207,000 YouTube subscribers and was a popular Vine user until the platform shut down.

Many of Limmy's Limmy's Show sketches remain popular online, including Steel Is Heavier Than Feathers, "Water" (shown below, left), and "Benny Harvey RIP" (shown below, right).

Steel Is Heavier Than Feathers

Steel Is Heavier Than Feathers refers to a sketch from Scottish sketch comedy series Limmy's Show, in which the titular character poses the question, "What's heavier? A kilogramme of steel or a kilogramme of feathers?" He then incorrectly answers "That's right, a kilogramme of steel. Because steel is heavier than feathers." Other characters interrupt the scene to tell him he's incorrect and that they weigh the same, causing Limmy to look confused. The clip was widely shared online and has been parodied on YouTube and the shot of Limmy's confused face became a reaction image.

The clip aired in Series 3, Episode 3 of Limmy's Show, which aired on the BBC on December 2nd, 2012. The clip was posted on November 27th, 2012 to YouTube by John Gillooley (shown below).
