Chris the Lovable Jerk

This does sum up the problem with the trailer, aside from the uncanny designs of the sheep and lama. He takes a dramatic pause to introduce himself but because it's just Jack Black in a blue shirt, it lacks any comedic impact like, say Tim the Enchanter from Monty Python. If he had been wearing the Diamond Armor first and then magics it off to more casually introduce himself, then it could work. And if he had made some grand and ridiculous statement like he's the ruler/guardian of the land or the most powerful warrior or hero it's ever known, it would justify both the pause and the other characters' annoyed/incredulous reactions but as the trailer presents it they're inexplicably annoyed and insulting him for seemingly no reason.
