About
Marina Joyce is a British YouTuber from North London who is known for her makeup tutorials and vlog posts. In 2016, fans of Marina Joyce noticed changes in the YouTuber's personality which sparked numerous conspiracy theories and the hashtag #SavingMarinaJoyce. After Joyce confessed that her unusual behavior was due to depression rumors subsided. In August 2019, Joyce went missing for ten days which reignited conspiracies regarding her surroundings and mental health.
Online History
On August 25th, 2010, Marina Joyce joined YouTube. On July 31st, 2012, Marina Joyce uploaded a short introduction video filmed in her bathroom (shown below). The video gained over 705,300 views and 9,600 likes in seven years. She quickly became known for her short vlogs and make up tutorials as well as her bubbly personality.
On August 1st, 2012, Joyce uploaded one of her most popular videos, "Super Long Eyelashes Makeup Tutorial" which garnered over 7.7 million views and 104,000 likes in seven years. She continued to post weekly and gained many followers wound the time fans could sense a change in her personality. On July 15th, 2016, Joyce addressed her fan's comments in her most popular video "Question and Answer" (shown below, right). The video accumulated over 15.5 million views in three years.
Reputation
Marina Joyce has gathered over two million subscribers in nine years on YouTube. Joyce has also gained a strong following on Twitter[2] and Instagram[1] with 388,700 followers and 302,000 followers respectively gathered in over nine years.

On July 8th, 2016, Joyce uploaded a makeup tutorial video to YouTube, garnering upwards of 1.2 million views and 9,600 comments within three weeks. In the comments section, viewers pointed out that a gun could be seen resting against her dresser starting at 1m45s into the video, while others claimed she appeared to be stressed (video since deleted). On July 22nd, Joyce uploaded a video titled "Date Outfit Ideas," in which she models several different women's outfits to wear on a romantic date (shown below). Within the first 20 seconds of the video, a pointing hand can be seen to the left side of the screen and Joyce can be seen whispering the words "help me." Within five days, the video gained over 4.7 million views and 60,800 comments. Her strange behavior sparked the hashtag SaveMarinaJoyce in which fans discussed conspiracies surrounding Joyce's well-being.
On March 30th, 2017, Marina Joyce finally addressed the hashtag saying that her depression was causing her to act differently (shown below). The video accumulated over 2.8 million views and 75,000 likes in two years.
Missing
On July 31st, 2019, Marina Joyce was reported missing.[7] While she was missing, Twitter users began posting memes related to the #SavingMariaJoyce incident two years prior. On August 9th, @notTORYY[4] posted a Veggie Tales screenshot with the caption "every twitter detective that worked the marina joyce case in 2016 coming back and talking to the police:" which gained over 15,800 likes in three days (shown below, left). Twitter user @Rxbaby_[5] also posted an image which addressing the similarities between the 2016 incident and Joyce's current status which gathered over 3,900 likes in three days.
On August 9th, Marina Joyce's boyfriend Brandon Mehmed posted a message to Instagram[3] saying that Joyce was safe but the police confirm that she was still consider missing (shown below, left). The next day, Joyce was found and Mehmed posted a message to Instagram explaining that Joyce would like to address what had happened in a video but that she might turn on him (shown below, left). That same day KeemStar[6] tweeted about Marina Joyce fans (shown below, right). The tweet garnered over 10,300 likes in two days.
Personal Life
In 2012, Marina Joyce accused Sam Pepper of sexual assault but never went into great detail or spoke out fully about her experience.[8] In 2014, Joyce uploaded a draw my life video in which she recounts her younger years in North London (shown below).
