About
Mew2King is the alias of professional Super Smash Bros. competitor Jason Zimmerman, who is best known for winning over 70 tournaments over the course of his career.
Online History
Zimmerman began his involvement with the online Super Smash Bros. community as a contributor to the SmashBoards message board. Within the Smash community, Zimmerman earned a reputation as a pioneer Super Smash Bros. "lab monster," a player that meticulously learns and discovers the inner workings of a game. From 2005 to 2006, Zimmerman went from being a low-level player to one of the top eight players in the United States. In 2007, Zimmerman won his first U.S. national victory at Melee-FC Diamond.
Zimmerman was also an early pioneer for the competitive metagame for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, having earned the top player position in both Melee and Brawl in 2008. Despite having played the game for more than a decade, with many players having come and gone, Mew2King still remains as one of the top 6 players in Super Smash Bros. Melee, earning him the title as one of the"Gods of Melee" for dominating tournaments from 2008 to 2015. Mew2King is also a top player in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, having competed against Smash champions Gonzalo "ZeRo" Barrios and Nairoby "Nairo" Quezada.
Personal Life
Zimmerman was born on February 5th, 1989. From 2012 to 2015, he lived in Los Angeles, California along with roommate and video game streamer Sky Williams. Zimmerman is diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome and has purportedly suffered from depression.
Reputation
Zimmerman's antics have also been popular with the Facebook group Melee Hell, often having OCs and posts dedicated to him by the members of the group. Posts in Smash communities often refer to Zimmerman as one of the five "Gods" of the game, specifically for Super Smash Bros. Melee. Such reputation and accomplishments would be covered in episode 7 of "The Smash Brothers," a documentary that focuses on the history of Melee, from its underground, grassroots beginnings to its return to the Evolution Championship Series (EVO) lineup in 2013.
