About
Mustache Hat Jubilee Guy is a nickname given to Iranian-American Matin Samimiat or @matinsamimiat, best known for participating in a viral Jubilee "Surrounded" YouTube video featuring journalist Mehdi Hasan in late July 2025. Matin Samimiat's unique and anachronistic appearance, with his flat-brimmed hat and pointy mustache, garnered attention online in the aftermath of the Jubilee video. Twitter / X users posted memes and jokes describing him as the "Mexican devil," and looking like an old-timey villain that "took a break from tying a woman to a railroad tracks." Others joked about him resembling Spy vs. Spy or a traveling magician, as well as looking like a puppeteer who was controlling the other contestants with strings. Some internet users also joked about Samimiat being Waluigi Mangione, and highlighted how similar he looked to the suspected UHC CEO assassin.
Origin
On July 20th, 2025, the YouTube[1] page Jubilee posted a video titled, "1 Progressive vs 20 Far-Right Conservatives (ft. Mehdi Hasan)," in which the former Mehdi Hasan Show host and Zeteo news CEO host debated young, self-professed "far-right" people. The video gathered over 2 million likes in a day.
At the 54:48 timestamp, Hasan faced off against Iranian American Matin Samimiat @matinsamimiat.[2] Samimiat is shown wearing a dark blue suit and a flat-brimmed hat while sporting a manicured, pointy mustache and goatee. Samimiat debated with Hasan about the vetting process for legal immigrants before being voted out by other participants.
One of the first internet users to comment on Matin Samimiat's unique appearance was X[3] user @Alexander_Avina, who tweeted, "Cmon lmao" on July 20th, 2025, alongside an image of Matin Samimiat.
Later that day, X[4] user @SheaSerrano wrote, "took a break from tying a woman to a railroad track to come argue," and gathered over 90,000 likes in a day.

Spread
Memes about Matin Samimiat's Jubilee appearance continued to make the rounds on Twitter / X in late July 2025.
On July 20th, 2025, X[6] user @PinstripeBungle quoted the aforementioned post by @Alexander_Avina, writing, "I have never been less suprised by the physical appearance of someone than by the alt right Iranian zionist monarchist in the Mehdi Hasan interview." The post gathered over 17,000 likes in a day.

Also on July 20th, X[7] user @Howlingmutant0 posted the image of Matin Samimiat from the Jubilee video and wrote, "I don’t watch a lot of these jubilee debate videos but…I think this is the Mexican devil…" The post gathered over 11,000 likes in a day.

On July 21st, X[5] user @uncledoomer posted a mirrored image of Matin Samimiat, showing a version of him dressed in all white facing a version of him dressed in dark blue alongside a caption that read, "greetings stranger. one of us tells only lies, the other tells only truth." The post gathered over 20,000 likes, while the replies to the post compared Samimiat to the characters from Spy vs Spy comics.

Later on July 21st, 2025, X[8] user @petalsforissa tweeted, "no way they found waluigi mangione" alongside an image of Matin Samimiat, comparing him to Luigi Mangione, the suspected UHC CEO shooter. The post gathered over 12,000 likes in a day.
