About

Showry (Korean: 쇼리, sometimes transliterated as Syori) is a South Korean YouTuber known for her comedic parodies of muck-bong, known in English as eatcasting. She has a wide following in both Korea and the West for her work.

History

Showry uploaded her first video to YouTube on February 15th, 2015. The video was titled "쇼리의 목욕법(How to take a bath)" and featured Showry in the bath, covering herself with soap and spraying herself with water while doing her soon-to-be-signature dances and wails. The video has received over 62,000 views as of December 22nd, 2015. Since then, she has uploaded videos weekly, both muck-bong parodies and traditional comedy show sketches.[1]

Notable Events

Showry started her official Facebook fan page on May 6th, 2015; however, her videos began attracting lots of shares and views gradually, with recent videos as of December 2015.[2] Showry's most popular videos all include her dancing, whooping, and engaging in extreme activities with food; "Fucking Fruit Juice", which involves her dancing to a punk rock soundtrack while eating and regurgitating fruit into a blender bowl, has over 10 million views. "The Little Mermaid", in which Showry wears a set of mermaid fins and dances with small squid tentacles, has over 23 million views.

Since her videos have become viral hits, Showry has granted interviews with newspapers[3] who have called her a "feminist shock comedian".[4] As of December 2015, she has over 84,000 YouTube subscribers and over 731,000 likes on Facebook.
