About

SoCal Christ, also known as Jesus Christ, is a YouTuber known for costuming as Christian religious figure Jesus of Nazareth and creating custom videos for the online marketplace Fiverr, similar to Big Man Tyrone, Voiceoverpete and FrankGeorgeTV.

Online History

In May 2015, the SoCal Christ user page was created on Fiverr,[6] where he sold videos reading custom scripts while dressed as Jesus of Nazareth. Two months later, he uploaded the first video to the YouTube channel Jesus Christ, in which he unboxes a crown of thrones (shown below).

In January 2017, YouTuber PewDiePie uploaded a video featuring SoCal Christ's Fiverr videos (shown below, left). The original upload has since been removed. On January 17th, a video titled "Jesus has been BANNED by Fiverr :(" was uploaded to the Jesus Christ YouTube channel (shown below, right).

Save Jesus Christ

On January 6th, 2019, a video titled "I need your help!" was uploaded to the Jesus Christ YouTube channel (shown below). In the video, he asks viewers to donate to his Patreon[2] page to fund a custody battle against his ex-wife, who he claims belongs to a "religious organization" that he escaped. Following the video, many speculated that the organization was a cult that his ex-wife belongs to.

That day, Redditor cakeluvr6969 submitted the video to /r/PewDiePieSubmissions,[3] where it gathered upwards of 66,700 points (86% upvoted) and 1,400 comments. In response to the video, fans of SoCal Christ began posting the message "Save Jesus Christ" on YouTube videos. On January 7th, Redditor trashbagtrash submitted a post titled "What's up with the 'Save Jesus Christ' comments all over youtube?" to /r/OutOfTheLoop,[4] where it garnered more than 1,300 points (91% upvoted) and 110 comments within 11 hours.
