Ayo Edebiri's reaction is a shocked and surprised face with her eyebrows raised and her eyes wide open. The photo went viral on Twitter / X in February 2024, leading to an image caption trend. Many called Edebiri Irish, using her reaction as the Irish reaction to the British. The meme format notably shares similarities to precursors such as Bro Explaining.

On February 18th, 2024, Getty Images^[1] uploaded a photo from photographer Jordan Pettitt showing William, Prince of Wales talking passionately at actresses Phoebe Dynevor, Ayo Edebiri, Sophie Wilde and Mia McKenna Bruce (shown below). Ayo Edebiri's expression is the most recognizable in which she seems visibly shocked with her eyebrows raised and her eyes wide open.

The first-known upload of the image on social media was a tweet shared by X^[2] user @Hopesloop on February 18th, who captioned it, "I am simply begging you all to look at this photo of Ayo Edebiri meeting Prince William at the #BAFTAs," gaining over 30,000 likes in one day (shown below).

The tweet inspired a slew of quotes and replies. For instance, on February 18th, 2024, X^[3] user @LucaGuadagnegro labeled both people, "the British" and "the Irish," gaining over 7,200 likes in a day (shown below, left).

Separate from the tweet, X^[4] user @MamaSassington tweeted the photo and close-ups of each woman shown, writing, "WTF is he doing," gaining over 23,000 likes in a day (shown below, right).

On February 18th, 2024, X^[5] user @RohitaKadambi made another Irish-related joke in a post that received over 4,100 likes in a day (shown below, left).

Later on February 18th, X^[6] user @Miserable_PhD wrote, "Never seen a more perfect picture of scaring the hoes," in a quote that earned over 203,000 likes in a day (shown below, right).

The meme was also shared on Reddit, like a post shared by Redditor visionaryredditor to /r/moviescirclejerk^[7] on February 19th, 2024, gaining over 720 upvotes in less than a day (shown below).
