Puru puru pururin refers to the OP of a fictional anime in the anime Welcome To The N.H.K by Tatsuhiko Takimoto featuring a magical neko girl that can transform into pudding along with a vacuum companion. The OP is recognized for its repetition of "puru puru pururin" and its overly upbeat nature.[1]
Origin
The anime adaptation of Takimoto's light novel manga "Welcome to the NHK", published in 2002, was first aired in 2006 directed by Yusuke Yamamoto. In one of the episodes of the series the protagonist, Tatsuhiro Satou, complains about hearing his neighbor constantly playing the theme daily.[2]
Spread
Since the anime's release, the theme has been well known for its catchy and repetitive tune between viewers of NHK. It's respective 10 hour loop was made in 2012 by YouTube user maximko and since then has had 604,366 views and 9,800 likes. [3]
Resurgence
The earliest known mention of the song since then was posted on May 7, 2020, by Instagram user thicc.wigga when he posted the a video of the intro of the song along with the caption, "Welcome to Deez nuts! Ha! Kottem!" as of now at 631 likes. [4]
Other forms of spread have been included in photoshops and sound edits revolving around the songs addictive nature. Posts of the song are often accompanied by the mention of its lyric shown below.
