About
Rajah is a talisman by using gibberish Arabic words or some verses in The Quran then shaping it like an object or animal written in a piece of paper or animal skin which is believed that anybody who have it, they will get wealthy and free from supranatural attacks. It is considered as haram in Islam because it worshipping others than God. The Rajah gained popular in September 2024 to mocking some of Muslims who believe and using the talisman by making parodies and memes of it.
Origin
It is unclear who and when the first parodying the talisman. However on June 23rd, 2020, Facebook[1] page "Generasi muda NU" uploaded compilations of Rajah parodies, one of them by using Indonesian nursery rhymes "Balonku" (Eng. My Balloon) in Arabic writing (shown below). The post received more than 1,100 reactions and 110 shares in four years.
Spread
Years later, the parodies of Rajah gained popular in Indonesia on September 2024 to mocking some of Muslims who believing and using the talisman, considering it's the biggest Muslim populations in the world. For example on September 7th, 2024, Facebook[2] user Putr uploaded I Wanna Sleep With My Penguin Tonight edit to the "Perkumpulan Orang Santai: Total" group. The post received more than 8,500 reactions and 2,300 shares in one month (shown below).
On the same day, Facebook[3] user Rizal Fadhilah uploaded parody of Rajah by using Skibidi Toilet as the reference to the same group. The post received more than 6,000 reactions and 1,200 shares in one month (shown below).
