About

"Ravioli Ravioli Give Me the Forumuoli" is a memorable rhyme from a restaurant scene in the cartoon series Spongebob Squarepants. A clip from the scene is frequently used in a series of hip hop mashup videos on YouTube and Vine, which bear many similarities to Thomas the Tank Engine remixes.

Origin

On December 28th, 2000, the Sponge Squarepants episode "Imitation Krabs" was broadcast, in which the character Plankton disguises himself as Mr. Krabs to steal a formula for krabby patties, saying "ravioli ravioli, give me the formuoli" (shown below).[1]



Spread

On February 20th, 2010, a Facebook[3] page titled "Ravioli, ravioli, give me the formuoli" was launched. On November 9th, 2012, YouTuber Doc Khaous uploaded the scene, which received more than 360,000 views and 290 comments in the next three years. On December 14th, 2013, vlogger Connor Franta[2] tweeted the rhyme, which received upwards of 1,800 retweets and 4,900 favorites over the next two years (shown below).

On November 7th, 2014 Viner Michael K uploaded a remix video featuring a child who says "I don't want no ravioli, nigga" following the Spongebob scene (shown below). In eight months, the video garnered more than 7.4 million loops, 177,000 likes and 127,000 revines.



On April 21st, 2015, Viner tha foxy llama uploaded a mashup of the 2010 hip hop song "Black and Yellow" by Wiz Khalifa with the Spongebob Squarepants clip (shown below, left). On June 2nd, tha foxy llama uploaded another mashup video, which featured the 1993 hip hop song "It Was a Good Day" by Ice Cube (shown below, right).
