Rick Ross Dancing, also known as the Rick Ross GIF, Rick Ross Emote or Rick Ross Walk, refers to a viral video and GIF of rapper Rick Ross dancing in a pink polo shirt, a backward black baseball cap and a gold watch in a studio with friends. His dance resembles running or jogging while slowly moving sideways. The original video was posted to Instagram in 2019 by fellow rapper Drewboy. Rick Ross Dancing became a reaction GIF online in the 2020s. In mid-2024, the Rick Ross Dancing GIF was referenced in viral TikTok videos alongside the Kevin Gates GIF and Mike Epps GIF, forming the so-called Big 3 Emotes. Many Rick Ross Dancing memes showed people recreating his dance and joking about learning his "emote." Most of the videos used the drill rap song "BECKHAM" by Dee Billz x Kyle Richh x KJ Swervo x Kai Swervo.

On August 17th, 2019, rapper Drewboy posted a video to his Instagram^[1] account @1drewboy showing Rick Ross dancing in a studio, wearing a pink polo shirt, a backward black baseball cap and a gold watch. Ross' dance resembled running or jogging while moving sideways. Over five years, the video received roughly 380,400 views and 61,800 likes (shown below).

On August 18th and 19th, 2019, Tenor^[2][3] users DeAndreDeAndre and TwoatethreeDeagle posted GIFs of the video with different crops and durations (shown below, left and right).

Spread

The GIF of Rick Ross Dancing predominantly spread in 2024, following multiple viral TikTok videos shared in June 2024.

Currently, the first known was posted by TikToker^[4] @tbglo6 on June 21st, comparing Rick Ross' dance to a Bobby Shmurda dance, using the drill rap song "BECKHAM" by Dee Billz x Kyle Richh x KJ Swervo x Kai Swervo as the TikTok sound.^[5] Over 10 days, the video received roughly 972,300 plays and 184,800 likes (shown below, left).

On June 26th, TikToker^[6] @kuu6a posted a video of him recreating the dance, writing, "The Rick Ross getting hit all summer," gaining over 553,400 plays and 126,900 likes in five days (shown below, right).

On June 27th, 2024, TikToker^[7] @officialjustjo (aka the Turbulence Guy) posted a video of him doing the so-called "Ross walk," gaining over 469,800 plays and 99,100 likes in four days (shown below, left).

During the same timeframe, many compared the Rick Ross Dancing GIF to other "emotes" like the Kevin Gates GIF and Mike Epps GIF, such as TikToker^[8] @400unna on June 26th, who wrote, "Kevin Gates GIF & Rick Ross Rock Are On A Generational Run Rn," receiving over 1.6 million plays and 320,300 likes in five days (shown below, right).

The Mike Epps GIF became a TikTok meme in mid-2024, along with The Big 3 Emotes including the Kevin Gates GIF and Rick Ross Dancing. They were portrayed as adversarial video game emotes in memes.
