About

The Riku Shake, also known as Riku Shaking or the Riku Dance, refers to a TikTok dance trend based on a video of J-pop singer Riku of the group NCT Wish shaking his chest. The dance was mostly performed by women on TikTok, who shook their chests, mimicking Riku's movements. The song accompanying the Riku Dance is "1000" by NCT Wish. The TikTok trend occurred in May 2025, but the Riku Shake video originally went viral on Twitter / X the month prior.

Origin

On April 14th, 2025, X[1][2] user @myr1ku tweeted a video of NCT Wish member Riku shaking his chest to the group's song "1000."

@myr1ku has since made their account private, but the tweet received numerous quote-tweets with viral engagement, like one shared by X[3] user @butterflyutsie on April 14th, who said, "Riku dances like he’s got a pair of huge milkers and a fat BBL," gaining over 3,400 likes in a month.

On April 17th, 2025, TikToker[4] @its.sonitaa posted the clip to the new platform, writing, "Me whenever I see this clip of Riku shaking it on [Twitter]," receiving over 51,200 likes in a month (shown below).

On April 17th, 2025, TikToker[5] @oontzootnzlover posted a video of herself replicating the Riku Shake, saying that Riku "ate" with the move. Over one month, her video gained roughly 57,200 likes (shown below).

The abovementioned video spawned a TikTok sound[6] that was used by others for the trend, notably spreading in May 2025.

For instance, on May 18th, TikToker[8] @hyxn.lee posted a video of her friend group doing the dance with the caption, "When the food + yap combo is so good you gotta hit the Riku Shake." Over 12 days, the video received roughly 1 million likes (shown below).
