The Ryan Reynolds-Hugh Jackman Feud refers to a mock rivalry between the two actors and movie stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, who troll each other on social media.

Origin

On May 1st, 2009, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds played opposite each other in X-Men Origins: Wolverine with Jackman playing Wolverine and Reynolds, as the villain, Deadpool. In the film, the two actors engage in an onscreen fight sequence (clip below).^[1]

Spread

On November 9th, 2015, while on the set of the first Deadpool film, Jackman posted a video of Reynolds in the Deadpool makeup and impersonating Hugh Jackman, asking fans to vote for him for the Sexiest Man Alive competition, on Instagram. ^[2] The post received more than 96,000 likes in four years (shown below).

About one year later, Jackman tweeted ^[3] a video of himself holding up a Reynolds mask. He captioned the post, "@VanCityReynolds asked me to post this 100% real video by him on being honored with a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame today." The post received more than 10,000 retweets and 32,000 likes in less than three years (shown below).

Over the next two years, Reynolds and Jackman would occasionally remark on each others social media posts. For example, on March 5th, 2017, Reynolds retweeted^[4] a photograph of Jackman with a group of fans, calling them "protesters." The post received more than 26,000 retweets and 120,000 likes in two years (shown below).

Ryan Reynolds Between Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal

On December 20th, 2018, actor Ryan Reynolds published a photograph on Instagram ^[5] of himself and actors Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal In the photograph, Reynolds looks upset and the other two are laughing at him. Reynolds captioned the photograph, "These fucking assholes said it was a sweater party." The post received more than 8.1 million likes in four days (shown below).

Truce

On January 31st, 2019, Reynolds tweeted, "Official truce with @realhughjackman! As a gesture of goodwill, I’m gonna make a beautiful ad for his company, Laughing Man Coffee. Can’t wait!" The tweet received more than 11,000 retweets and 161,000 likes in three weeks (shown below, left).

Less than one week, Reynolds posted a video declaring a truce between the two actors YouTube. The video features the two actors jokingly making advertisements for each other's companies. The post received more than 4.8 million views in one week (shown below, right).
