On December 20th, 2018, actor Ryan Reynolds published a photograph on Instagram ^[1] of himself and actors Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal In the photograph, Reynolds looks upset and the other two are laughing at him. Reynolds captioned the photograph, "These fucking assholes said it was a sweater party." The post received more than 8.1 million likes in four days (shown below).

After the photograph was posted on Instagram and Twitter, ^[2] people began posting captions, object-labeled and photoshopped versions of the photograph. That day, Twitter^[3] user @NeoParzival829 tweeted an object-labeled version of the image. The post received more than 2,900 retweets and 11,000 likes in four days (shown below, left).

The following day, Instagram^[3] user @grapejuiceboys posted a version in which Jackman is labeled "my mom at a grocery store" and Gyllenhaal is labeled "her friend from high school." The post received more than 27,000 likes in three days (shown below, center).

That day, Redditor ^[4] gmcl86 posted the image on the /r/funny subreddit. The post received more than 156,000 points (86% upvoted) and 2,800 comments in three days.
