Savage Challenge is a TikTok dance created in March 2020 to the song "Savage"[2] by American rapper Megan Thee Stallion. The dance almost immediately became popular with many celebrities performing the dance on TikTok and Instagram.

Origin

On March 10th, 2020, TikToker @keke.janajah uploaded a video of a new dance she created to the song "Savage" (shown below). The video gained over 221,600 likes in 14 days.

Spread

On March 16th, 2020, Megan Thee Stallion performed the dance and posted a video to Instagram (shown below). The video garnered over 1.1 million likes in a week.



The next day, TikToker @addisonre posted a video of herself doing the dance which received over 7.2 million likes in a week (shown below, left). On March 19th, TikToker @lolofrager uploaded a video of their father performing the dance (shown below, right). The video garnered over 3.5 million likes in five days.

On March 23rd, Todrick Hall posted a video of himself performing the dance to Instagram and used the hashtag #SavageChallenge (shown below). The video accumulated over 55,100 likes in a day. Stay Hipp[1] published an article on the dance challenge.
