Spread

Following the post, people mocked Walker, both for his appearance in the picture and his policies as governor, which some characterize as anti-women. New York magazine[2] wrote of the image:

is certainly a worthwhile cause, but it’s a little hard to take Walker’s show of support for victims of sexual assault (who tend, overwhelmingly, to be women) seriously given, well, his entire career.

In 2015, for example, as governor of Wisconsin, he signed into a law a bill that banned abortions after 20 weeks, with no exceptions for cases of rape or incest[…]In addition, he defunded Planned Parenthood across Wisconsin, pushed for the elimination of a law that required insurance companies to cover contraceptives, repealed the state’s comprehensive sex-education law, and also repealed its equal pay law.

Twitter[3] user @cFidd tweeted, "You backed Donald Trump and Brett Kavanaugh. Go put on some khakis." The tweet received more than 2,000 retweets and 16,000 likes in 24 hours (shown below, left). HuffPost reporter Ashley Feinberg joked,[4] "scott………,,….,… thank you." The post received more than 550 retweets and 8,100 likes in 24 hours (shown below, center).

Comedian Rob Delaney parodied the post with a photograph of himself wearing denim.[5] The post received more than 25 retweets and 2,000 likes (shown below, right).
