Señorita Awesome, often written Senorita Awesome, refers to a scene from the 2015 Fox comedy-horror series Scream Queens that many perceived as particularly cringey. Since airing, the clip from the show has spread on various social media platforms throughout the years, becoming both a viral video and TikTok sound. The term "Señorita Awesome" is sometimes used online to denote that someone is acting like a Pick Me Girl, or to make fun of forced "not like other girls" dialogue in literature and media.

Origin

The meme originates from the pilot episode of the TV show Scream Queens, which aired on September 22nd, 2015. Shortly before the iconic interaction, the character Chanel Oberlin, played by actress Emma Roberts, orders an absurdly specific pumpkin spice latte that is portrayed as impossibly hot and excessively demanding.

In the scene that later became a meme, a coffee barista asks a prospective sorority pledge named Grace Gardner (played by Skyler Samuels) for her name to write on the cup. Rather than giving her actual name, the student introduces herself as "Señorita Awesome" in an apparent attempt to come across as laid-back and unique.

The full scene in context was uploaded to YouTube^[1] by user jontepxb2201 on January 17th, 2016, receiving over 721,000 views, 8,300 likes and 480 comments in 10 years.

The moment was reportedly written by writer and director Ryan Murphy as a parody of the "Cool Girl" archetype. However, many viewers found the dialogue so exaggerated and unnatural that the scene eventually developed a second life online.

Over the following years, the scene garnered infamy online and was perceived by many as cringeworthy, resulting in it being mocked and used in memes.

On October 19th, 2023, TikTok^[2] user @qmmovie4 posted the original Scream Queens clip featuring the coffee shop scene. The video received over 7.4 million views and 299,500 likes in about two and a half years. The video also became the source of the viral audio on TikTok.

The Señorita Awesome audio slowly gained virality in subsequent years and experienced multiple revivals.

On January 23rd, 2024, TikTok^[3] user @itsnatalietran posted a video lip-syncing and Junko Posing over the audio. The video received over 7.4 million views and 889,200 likes in over two years.

On July 20th, 2025, TikTok^[4] user @juicys0up posted a version using the sound. The video received over 6.9 million views and 1.6 million likes in 10 months.

On May 25th, 2026, TikTok^[5] user @amirambappe posted a video using the Señorita Awesome audio. The video received over 3.5 million views and 570,100 likes in 16 days.
