Overview

@SeveredData Emma Mae Onstott Death Hoax refers to a tweet posted by X / Twitter user @SeveredData in which they shared a note signed as Emma Mae Onstott, claiming to have been "exposed as a pe--phile for allegedly grooming two 14-year-old kids." The user later posted a photo of the view from the St. Johns Bridge in Portland, Oregon, that was very similar to the one posted by Charlotte Fosgate in her "It's a pretty view tweet" soon before she jumped to her death.

However, internet users soon accused Emma Mae Onstott, @SeveredData, of faking her death and using fake websites to report on her supposed death, with X user @hrtfox posting a thread on November 25th, saying that they tracked Emma Mae Onstott's hometown to Vancouver, Washington, found her deadname, and contacted the local police department to do a wellness check that purportedly revealed that Emma Mae Onstott was alive and well. The thread also noted activity on @SeveredData's Twitter / X and YouTube page that indicated that the person operating those accounts was alive.

Why am I doing this you may be asking? Many reasons. The note also ended with a reference to the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 game:

P.S. Yes, I am dead before GTA 6 is released. I'm sad that I never had the opportunity to see or play the game, so tell me how good it is please.
