Sexo: La Película or Sex: The Movie in English refers to a series of ironic memes in Spanish of movie posters and fake trailers based on photographs of the caracal Big Floppa and other medium-sized cats. The meme started to be spread on TikTok and other social media in late December 2021, but only gained more popularity online starting in late January 2022.
Origin
While the exact first example of this meme is unknown, the earliest known post of it was uploaded on IFunny[1] on December 21st, 2022. The post is a fake poster of the movie Sexo: La Película and it got 54 likes and one comment. On December 29th, 2021, TikTok[2] user @kevin_het3ro8 posted an ironic video comparing his reaction to the premiere of the Pixar movie Turning Red with the release of the fake movie Sexo: La Película, featuring Big Floppa as the main protagonist. The video received 24,000 views and 1,785 likes in seven months and indicates the moment the meme started to grow in its audience.

After this date, a massive number of other parody videos and movie posters were posted online. Users @diego_en_hd [3] and a fake "official" movie account, @sexo_la_pelicula0[4], on TikTok shared new videos of Big Floppa fake trailer, gaining more views and spreading across social media.
This meme most likely took inspiration from the 2019 Jacob Batalon CEO of Sex meme, where images of the Spider-Man actor were on humorous captions, fake movie trailers and posters.
Spread
In the first months of 2022, the lore about the fake movie expanded on social media and new parodies, behind the scenes, TikTok sounds and much more began to appear on TikTok meme pages like @floppa.good[5], @dharkt_phonk[6] and ElPalomero on YouTube. On January 25th, 2022, user The Laux56 uploaded a new trailer for the fake movie on YouTube. The post received 276,000 views, 20,000 likes and 1,300 comments in seven months.
On February 2nd, 2022, user @kasumi_kobayashi[7] posted a video as if he was watching the movie in Theater to record the audience's reaction to the movie. The post received 1 million views and 300.000 likes in four months.
