About.

Shrek in Super Smash Bros is a popular fan request seeking for the inclusion of the protagonist ogre character from the 2001 CGI fantasy comedy film Shrek in Nintendo's upcoming installation of Super Smash Bros for 3DS and Wii U.

Origin

After the E3 2013, a video was posted to YouTube called "Super Smash Bros. Universe – E3 2013 Trailer ". The video featured a joke trailer for the upcoming videogame Super Smash Bros. 4 containing joke characthers such as Naruto or Waluigi (nicknamed Skinny Wario). On one scene, Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff are knocked out by Shrek. The video can be seen below.

Spread

The video became very popular, gaining 427.853 views. Eventually, users at Nintendo's community Miiverse started spamming drawings and posts of Shrek joining Smash Bros. 4 and even supporting "clans" (people following someone, the leader of the clan). The Shrek fandom quiclky spread to Internet and many potos and joke threads started to appear. The phrase "Shrek is love, Shrek is live" is commonly used in conjuction with the requests. Currently, a petition is in process at Change.org[1].
