About

Daily Dunkaccino was a gimmick account on Twitter that posted a newly created alteration of Al Pacino's Dunkaccino commercial from Jack and Jill every day. The account was created and run by YouTuber Saltydkdan, but became collaborative, with most of its videos being submitted by other users before the project officially ended in 2021.

Origin

Saltydkdan registered the @DailyDunkaccino Twitter account in April 2020 and spent more than a month creating and scheduling altered versions of the video.[1] The first tweet posted to the account was the unedited clip from the movie Jack and Jill. The second tweet, an edited version titled "Dunkaccino but it's my first fan AMV XD" (seen below), gained more than 3,500 likes over a year.[2]

Spread

The account steadily gained followers and attention, reaching 10,000 followers after less than a month.[3]

On September 2nd, 2020, the account posted its first fan-submitted edit, "Dunkaccino but it's a Game Boy Advance Video"[4] (shown below) by Twitter user LightSoulEX (now SNK_Dan).

In the following months, the majority of posts from the account were submitted by other users.

End of Project

The project was originally supposed to end one year after it began, but due to popular demand, Saltydkdan extended it until July 31st, 2021.[5]

The end of the account was commemorated with complete credits for all fan-made edits,[6] and a final video on the last day titled "Dunkaccino but it's a final goodbye (and thank you)"[7] (seen below). The tweet received more than 38,000 likes over two weeks.

The account's termination was also covered by The AV Club[8] on July 31st, 2021.
