JibJab

JibJab is the name of a digital entertainment studio that is based in Venice, Calafornia. It is best known for the videos that it produces. Many of it's videos have gone viral over the past few years. A signature of JibJab videos it the insertion of photographic heads on to animated bodies. JibJab is notable for more than just E-Cards so it's section is longer, as it is internet relevant.

In 1999, Greg and Evan Spiridellis started JibJab in a garage in Brooklyn. In February of 2000, they created their first viral video. President Rap – Capitol Ill featured a rap battle between Bush and Gore to decide the 2000 election.

This video can be considered one of the earliest viral videos that went mainstream. It was featured on many media outlets. It seemed that success was imminent for the Spiridellis brothers. But the Dot Com Crash changed that.

They saw that online entertainment was most likely done for, and almost called it quits. For the next few years, they worked in obscurity. In late 2003 they crated the website for JibJab. Jibjab stepped back into the spotlight when the released another video, Ahnold for Governor. This video, like their President Rap – Capitol Ill went viral. It even landed them a spot in the Sundance Film Festival.

Popularity

Although JibJab's popularity has long since peaked, interest spikes occasionally when another of their videos becomes popular.

JibJab has a feature called "Starring You" where a person can upload a picture of their own or another person's head and have it in a JibJab video. People do this with celeberities, their friends and family, or anything that has a face. JibJab has many dance videos to add heads to and most of their other videos can have peoples heads added to them. These are commonly sent between friends, coworkers, and family in the form of E-Cards.
