About

Mucho Texto is a reaction and image macro based on a fan art depiction of the Star Wars character Yoda dressed in a hip-hop fashion, coupled with the phrase "Mucho texto" (which translates to "Too much text") or the snowclone Mucho X (which translates to "Too much X"). The meme is often used to ignore extensive posts full of text, such as rants, arguments or apologies that the reader deems are too daunting.

Origin

Hip-hop Yoda / Hipster Yoda

On May 31st, 2007, DeviantArt user Almigh-T[1] created a fan art of Yoda dressed in a hip-hop fashion wearing a bucket hat, gold chain and sneakers (shown below). The post received over 58,000 views, 458 favorites and 151 comments in over 13 years.

Mucho X snowclone

On April 4th, 2020, Instagram[2] user malardo.png posted a meme in which someone is run over by a truck, and Yoda, depicted as the viewer's dad, simply responds by saying "Mucha play" (which translates to "Too many videogames") (seen below). Different versions, such as "Mucha compu" and "Mucha ciber" (which translate to "Too much computer" and "Too much cybercafe"), were posted on Memedroid[3] as early as April 18th.

*Translation*
[Truck runs over me]
My dad: Too much videogames

_Note: Literal translation would be "Too much play", but in Latin America "play" is a "genericization":https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/genericization of Playstation, and refers to playing videogames in any console.

Mucho Texto

Though the phrase "mucho texto" has been used on Twitter to make fun of political posts and memes since late April 2020,[4][5][6] the earliest available instance it was coupled with the Yoda fan art was posted on May 3rd by @quackercillo[7] during an argument with @endbc.

However, interactions of user @xumosplash suggest he was the author of the image macro. On May 8th, after users @ABN_libertario[8] and @Carrascxl[9] used the meme against him, @xumosplash[10] replied he was "doomed by his meme" and clarified he edited the “mucho texto” version of the image macro (shown below).[11] Other tweets also refer to the meme as his creation.[12][13]

- Pedro, I told you that I wanted to be honest with everything I thought at all times. When you say these things I feel very insecure. Let me explain. It makes me feel vulnerable. So nothing, just that. I don't like people who hurt me. I don't want explanations or anything, but it hurts a little to think that the guy I liked could be that way.

On May 26th, YouTuber[16] fartuad posted a video of a man with a Yoda mask dancing to "Robot Rock" by Daft Punk after using the phrase to interrupt an appreciation post from a BTS fan. The video gathered over 132,000 views in roughly six months (seen below).

I always thought: what would have happened with my life if I had never met BTS? What would have been of me without them, without their music, without their smiles. I always had thought running through my head, but I realized that I'll never feel that, because BTS will live within me wherev- MUCHO TEXTO
