Taringa! is a virtual community from Argentina where users can share any kind of information via posts. This webpage is well known by Latin America websurfers because of his media references and his big information recopilation.
Origin and spread
It was created in January of 2004 and spread since April of 2004 by Fernando Sanz, an argentinean student. In November 2006, it was adquired by Alberto Nakayama, Matías Botbol y Hernán Botbol. With over half million visitor per day and with over 5 million users registered, it becames the 228° webpage with more traffic worldwide.
The site
Most of the post are visible to all public, but some of they are members only. You have to be registered in order to post content. You can access to posts, communities, music and games. Taringa have a rank system based on points that user can share in articles they like.
Vámonos a Poringa
Taringa owners have another webpage with structure similarities, called Poringa! (+18). This site is dedicated to share porn. Whe Taringa users find a boring or provoctive post, they usually comment with this phrase.
