Socially Awkward Black Guy refers to an image of a Black man dressed in loose-fitting clothes standing with his hands in his pockets next to a group of blonde white women at a party or outdoor venue. The image was shared to X / Twitter in late April 2024 by X user @ybpsmeeths with the caption, "My bro really wants to talk to you." The image came to be shared online after people decided that the man pictured looked awkward and was "scaring the hoes." The meme is similar to the They Don't Know Wojak.

On April 27th, 2024, X^[1] user @ybpsmeeths posted an image of a man dressed in a loose-fitting, long-sleeve brown shirt and beige trousers at some kind of outdoor bar, venue or party. The man can be seen looking off to the side in the direction of a group of blonde women holding drinks. The image was captioned, "My bro really wants to talk to you," and gathered over 6,000 likes in three days (seen below).

On April 28th, 2024, X^[2] user @Tyre_94 quoted the image writing, "This picture is insane for at least 30 reasons," gathering over 57,000 likes in two days, while X^[3] user @JrMoneyGetting quoted the image on April 29th, writing, "poor guy don’t know he just became the new face of scaring the hoes," and gathered over 57,000 likes in a day (seen below, right).

On April 29th, the image was then reposted to the subreddit /r/playboycarti by Redditor^[4] /u/chunqes, where it gathered over 2,000 upvotes in a day.

On April 29th, 2024, X^[5] user @crackcobain__ quoted the image writing, "He probably a beast on Super Smash Bros," gathering over 26,000 likes in a day. The joke is likely a reference to the Good At Smash Bros Afro meme (seen below, left).

Also on April 29th, X^[6] user @EarthToMarzzz wrote, "Yall pick and choose when it’s okay to take photos of strangers and post it online.," gathering over 2,000 likes in a day. The image of the Socially Awkward Black Guy was posted by a man claiming to be his friend.
