About

Sodomposting, also known as Wodosposting is a series of images parodying unfunny memes, by replacing the panels with images of, most commonly, the executioner from In The Sign Of Evil's album cover, by the German thrash metal band Sodom. In some cases, the character used is Knarrenheinz, a soldier appearing on several albums by the same band.

Origin

In the August of 2023, Polish Redditor u/xfydr782 posted an image parody of a meme about the groove metal band Pantera, taken from r/MetalMemes, replacing two of the punchline panels with Sodom's "Persecution Mania". The post gained over 300 upvotes on r/okbuddymetal

Spread

Shortly after the original post got moderately popular, Reddit users u/Bazdillow and u/xfydr782 created a subreddit dedicated to Sodomposting (called r/Sodomposting), in the post's comment section. During late 2023, the meme started gaining fairly big popularity on r/okbuddymetal. Most of the posts consist of replacing meme panels, making sound-alikes and "red circle perpetrator"-type memes with one of Sodom's various album covers. A common theme is calling Sodom "Wodos", due to the fact that putting their logo upside-down says Wodos, instead of Sodom. Another common joke is quoting the lyrics from Blasphemer, on In The Sign Of Evil, most commonly "Masturbate to kill myself". The meme started spreading to other metal music related subreddits like r/MetalForTheMasses and r/MetalMemes, usually in the comments.
