Something New Dance is a social TikTok dance in which friends line up and each perform a short dance one after the other to the song "Something New feat. Ty Dolla $ign" by Wiz Khalifa. The dance, created in February 2020, involves sticking out your left elbow and then your right, shaking and then clapping before moving out of the way for the next person in line.

Origin

On February 11th, 2020, TikToker @kerringtonjk posted the first something new dance video (shown below). The video gained over 28,700 likes in a month.

On February 25th, TikToker @thekingofweird uploaded and edited video performing the video by himself which received over 2.4 million likes in a month (shown below, left). On March 20th, Jennifer Lopez uploaded a TikTok video in which she and her family perform the dance (shown below, center). The video accumulated over 5.8 million likes in three days. On March 22nd, LeBron James' family uploaded a TikTok video in which they perform the something new dance (shown below, right). The video gained over 3.1 million likes in a day.
