About

Stunt On These Hoes refers to an image of Dexter from Dexter's Laboratory looking at a photograph of Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, taped to the inside of a locker subtitled "stunt on these hoes." The phrase was spammed on the subreddit /r/DonaldGlover in late 2016 by a user named u/stuntonthesehoes, who was banned for it. The Dexter's Laboratory meme was posted to Twitter by Glover himself in November 2016 but was deleted in minutes. Shortly following, u/stuntonthesehoes deleted all their posts, leading some to believe that the user was Glover. The meme saw use as an exploitable over the following years, where people replace the image of Glover with another one. The format is a spinoff of the I Have Failed You format which uses the same image.

Origin

According to a post by Redditor SparkLeMur on /r/donaldglover[1] made in January 2017, the phrase "stunt on these hoes" was spammed on "pretty much every post" to the subreddit by u/stuntonthesehoes[2] sometime prior to November 2016, likely around November 10th, the date the account was created. Stuntonthesehoes was banned for spam, however, "stunt on these hoes" became a community meme, inspiring users to spam it in protest to get the user unbanned. The campaign worked. Then, on November 30th, Donald Glover posted a meme to Twitter showing Dexter looking at a photo of the actor/rapper taped to the inside of his locker subtitled "stunt on these hoes." The post was allegedly deleted within five minutes, alongside all of u/stuntonthesehoes' posts, leading the board to believe that Glover was the user. The screenshot of Glover's tweet was reposted to Twitter[3] by @NathanZed on that day, gaining over 36,600 likes and 18,000 retweets in five years (shown below). It has not been confirmed if this is really Glover or not. The image of Dexter is from Season 1, Episode 3 of the series, titled, "Dexter's Rival."

Spread

On November 30th, 2016, a number of Twitter users posted photoshops of the meme under @NathanZed's repost, replacing the image inside Dexter's locker with another. On December 2nd, Redditor dannyrgoode posted a recreation of the original meme to /r/donaldglover,[4] gaining over 440 upvotes and 3,300 views on Imgur[5] in just over five years (shown below).

The format became notably popular in sports memes over the following years, used to show support for certain players before games (examples shown below).[6][7]

On January 23rd, 2022, the Barstool Sports Twitter[8] page posted a video from NFL player Jackson Mahomes' Instagram story showing his fiance yelling and spraying champaign all over the crowd under her from her box at a game, gaining over 48,000 likes and 948,000 views in a day. In response, Twitter[9] user @Mason_VanGorp posted a version of the meme where Dexter is looking at an image of Joe Burrow, implying the user wants him to stunt on them, gaining over 12,000 likes in under a day (shown below).
