Bad Trip is the title of a 2019 hidden-camera comedy starring comedian Eric Andre and Lil Rel Howery (similar to Jackass).

History

On January 29th, 2019, Orion pictures announced that a hidden-camera prank film starring Andre and Howery would be released on October 25th, 2019. The film would be directed by Kitao Sakurai, who directed numerous episodes of The Eric Andre Show, produced by Jeff Tremaine, who produced the Jackass films and television series. According to Deadline,^[1] "the prank comedy follows two best friends on a cross-country road trip full of inventive pranks, pulling its real-life audience into the mayhem."

Online, both Andre and Howery shared the news on social media. Andre, who tweeted ^[2] a link to the Deadline article, received more than 420 retweets and 2,000 likes for his post (shown below, left). On Instagram, ^[3] Howery posted, "Another one can’t wait for y’all to see this movie in October it’s so damn crazy and funny." The post received more than 3,000 likes in 24 hours (shown below, right).

Fans of the comedians expressed their excitement online. That day, Redditor ^[4] snkngshps posted about the film in the /r/movies subreddit. Their post received more than 230 points (87% upvoted) in 24 hours.

Editor Jordan Zakarin tweeted,^[5] "Gonna watch this while chugging ranch the entire time." The tweet received more than 25 retweets and 160 likes in 24 hours (shown below). Additionally, Twitter^[6] published a Moments page about the film.
