About

Captain Pronin was a series of four Russian animated cartoon shorts created by Mikhail Zaitsev, which also later was continued as a book series and as a videogame. The animated shorts would gain a following online in the form of parody dubs and fanart.

Origin

The first episode was released in 1992 as Captain Pronin: Grandson of Major Pronin (shown below, left). The second episode, titled Captain Pronin 2: Captain Pronin in America (shown below, right) was released in 1993, and is possibly the most popular short in the series.

Captain Pronin would later receive a videogame titled Captain Pronin: One Against All, which released on PC in September 1997, and was also unofficially released for Sony PlayStation. The PlayStation release was covered on Vinesauce by Joel (shown below).

Online Presence

YouTuber Cr1tikal made a series a parody dubs of the cartoon shorts, which started with the second episode. The first parody dub was posted to YouTube on June 24th, 2014, and received over 1 million views in over eight years.
