About

Disenchanted is an animated series created by Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons and Futurama. The first ten episodes of the series are set to premiere on Netflix in August of 2018.

History

On July 25th, 2017, Variety[1] reported that Netflix had ordered episodes of Disenchantment from Matt Groening. The show is reported to follow the character Bean, a hard-drinking princess, her elf companion Elfo, and her "personal demon" Luci. At the time, Abbi Jacobson of Broad City, Eric Andre, and Nat Faxon were announced to be part of the voice cast.

On May 22nd, Groening posted to /r/Netflix[2] some teaser images from the show in a thread that gained over 19,000 points (examples shown below).

The following day, Variety[3] published an article saying Netflix had announced the show, giving it an August 17th, 2018 release date. They also published artwork provided by Netflix (shown below). The announcement was covered by multiple entertainment media outlets, including NME,[4] The Guardian,[5] and Deadline.[6]

Online Presence

The announcement of Disenchantment coincided with the creation of a Twitter account for the show which gained over 20,000 followers in roughly a month.[3]
