Fight Club is a 1999 drama-thriller film based on the novel by Chuck Palahniuk. The film is written by Jim Uhls and directed by David Fincher. The film stars Brad Pitt, Edward Norton, and Helena Bonham Carter. The film is considered to be one of the most controversial films of the 1990s.

History

Chuck Palahniuk's novel was published in 1996. 20th Century Fox bought the rights of the novel and hired David Fincher to direct the film. The inspiration of Fight Club is the 1967 film The Graduate.[1]

Reception

Upon the release in October 15, 1999, the film did not receive well with critics and box office return at the time. Roger Ebert described the film as "The most frankly and cheerfully fascist big-star movie since 'Death Wish'".[2] Over time the film has developed a cult classic following. The film's critic reviews has improved over time. The film currently has a 79% on Rotten Tomatoes.[3]

The film has influenced teenagers and High school students from forming their own fight clubs. California school officials are investigating on the alleged "fight club" on a high school campus after numerous videos of students. [4]

On Januray 10, 2013, Robot Chicken aired their 119th episode of Season 6 titled " Choked on a Bottle Cap", in which it has a segment the parodies the film titled "Ken Fight Club".[5]
