About

Home Alone refers to a 1990 family home invasion film and motion picture franchise about a young boy who protects his family's property from a band of thieves. The film inspired several sequels, a pair video games, novelizations and a reboot for the Disney+ streaming service. The first film remains one of the highest-grossing films of all time.

History

The first Home Alone film was released on November 16th, 1990. Starring Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern and Catherine O'Hara (trailer below).

Sequels

The film's stars returned for the first sequel Home Alone 2: Lost In New York, which was released on November 20th, 1992 (trailer below, left). It would be the last time the original cast would appear in a sequel.

Home Alone 3 arrived in theaters five years later on December 12th, 1997. The film featured a new cast and a new set of characters (shown below, right).

A final made-for-TV sequel was produced in 2002. Home Alone 4: Taking Back the House returns to the primary characters from the first two films but recasts the original actors.

Additionally, the company would be rebooting, among other titles, Home Alone, Night at the Museum and Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

On August 7th, Macaulay Culkin, the star of the original two Home Alone, tweeted a photograph of himself surrounded by food.
