The reason why Red Hat closed off source code access to Red Hat Enterprise Linux to paying customers...

1. All Linux distros are based on rebuilding code. 2. Saying that FLOSS being developed solely by hobbyists and hackers is basically a return to the dark ages is terrible optics. 3. While you get source code access if you pay for RHEL and have the freedom to freely redistribute it thanks to the GNU General Public License, Red Hat will rescind your contract if you decide to do it.
