About

Who TF Asked For X is a catchphrase used in a series of memes featuring an image of Santa Claus reading a long list and being shocked after reading an unusual gift request. The meme uses the phrasal template "Who TF asked for X," with "X" being an image or word representing the unusual gift. The meme was popularized in December 2024 as an exploitable reaction image format.

Origin

The earliest example of the Santa reading a list image can be found on ImageShack from around 2008, however, the image has been deleted. On December 6th, 2011, French blog coukie24[1] uploaded the image in GIF format on a post about Christmas (shown below).

Spread

In December 2024, the image gained popularity in the days before Christmas as a meme, in which Santa reacts with shock to an item on someone's list. For Example on December 20th, 2024, Instagram[2] user @dank_owos uploaded an edit of someone who want character Roxanne Wolf from Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach. The post received more than 2,000 likes in three days (shown below).

The next day, Twitter / X[3] user @aetherdepokk uploaded an edit asking Santa to make Indonesia dissolve due to several events happening in the country. The post received more than 40,000 likes in two days (shown below).
