r/StarWars Battlefront ⚫ 5 days ago bosh_007 Battlefront 2's player count just spiked. If we want a Battlefront 3, now's the time to show up. Discussion BF2 just shot up to over 5,000 concurrent players on Steam. No new updates, no events just people coming back to play. If we want EA to seriously consider Battlefront 3, this kind of momentum actually matters. They're a business if they see strong, sustained interest, that's how things start moving. So if you still care about Battlefront, please re-install it, play a few matches, post clips, get people talking again. The more active the game looks, the harder it is for them to ignore it Not saying it guarantees anything, but if we don't do it, we already know what the answer will be. We have seen things like this work before: For the start of this games life after the terrible launch with lootboxes, the player base tanked. But instead of dying out, the community rallied around the game once EA reworked the progression system. Over time the subreddit became super active, players returned, and Battlefront II started getting real traction again. That community support directly led to more updates and content in 2019-2020, including The Rise of Skywalker content and the Scarif update Even though DICE stopped updates in 2020, that massive post-launch comeback proved to EA that the fanbase was still engaged which is exactly the kind of momentum you'd want to recreate to push for Battlefront 3. I'm not sure if this would work but even so perhaps getting an update or even just getting more players on bf2 is a good thing.

Discussion I get this is Reddit and some of us here aren't exactly huge on other social media platforms, but every single post with relation to Star Wars has comments like; "BATTLEFRONT 3! SPREAD THE WORD!" written with the image shown above under the comment. And when I mean every single post, I mean every one of them. Stormtrooper in Fortnite gameplay? Protest. Boba Fett edit? Protest. People simping for Anakin/Padme? Protest. Just what is the reason behind all of this? Influencers trying to get the hope up? I don't think people understand this, but we aren't the rebellion. There's little to no hope for a Battlefront 3. What's your opinion on this? STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT III EA

On May 3rd, 2021, CBR^[2] wrote an article commenting on the fan theories about the release of Battlefront 3, claiming that two false leaks about the game suggested "a hypothetical late 2023 release date for the game, alongside an official announcement on April 20."

2025 Battlefront 3 Rumor

On May 18th, 2025, the X^[3] page @StayBombastic shared a Star Wars: Battlefront 2 Steam player chart, showing an increase of players in the last month (April-May 2025). The tweet (seen below) received more than 72,000 views and 3,700 likes in two days, while also spawning a new rumor that Star Wars: Battlefront 3could be announced in the near future.

According to Daily Mail Gaming,^[4] the increase of Star Wars: Battlefront 2 players is due to the release of the second season of the Andor TV Show, a spin-off series following thief-turned-rebel spy Cassian Andor during the five years that lead to the events of the two first Star Wars films.

The video explaining the rise in players was posted on TikTok on May 20th, 2025, amassing over 132,000 plays and 15,000 likes in a few hours.

Online Presence

Fans started to post memes and several other forms of content related to a potential upcoming Battlefront 3 release in late May 2025, partly to joke about the unfounded rumors and to also spread awareness about their expectations about wanting a new game from the series.

On the same day, Redditor u/SPECTREagent700 posted a meme about the rumor to the /r/StarWarsBattlefront^[6] subreddit, writing that, "There’s not going to be a Battlefront III." The post (seen below) received roughly 820 upvotes and 45 comments in a day.

I'm still sticking with this until they hit lightning in a bottle the 3rd time. (1st Battlefront OG is overlooked but cool)

I've been wanting a Star Wars Battlefront 3 since 2009.

If anyone was at all capable or intended to make a game in the series worth playing, it'd have happened by now, because as-is I've lived through two of the biggest companies on Earth pooling their resources to make "the best Star Wars game ever" not just once, but twice, and failing spectacularly the same way both times.

If they didn't learn from the mistakes they made the first time, I'm not holding out hope they'll learn much if they attempt a second "do-over."

You know, as a kid, I had a very simple dream, I saw planet Bespin was in Battlefront 1, but not 2 and it made me disappointed, I liked Rhen Var a lot as well, and I remember thinking the only way the games could have possibly been improved is if they were simply back.

I feel if you just took the maps missing from Star Wars Battlefront 2, and put them back in, you'd have a better game than any attempt to make one in the series since Pandemic lost the rights, still, almost 20 years later.
