Star Wars: The Bad Batch is an upcoming animated series set in the Star Wars universe. The show, a spinoff of the previous Star Wars animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, will reportedly premiere on Disney+ in 2021.

History

On April 29th, 2015, Star Wars: The Clone Wars premiered the episode "The Bad Batch." The episode follows the discovery of a group of elite and experimental clones (clip below).[1]

Five years later, on July 13th, 2020, StarWars.com[2] featured a press release about a new animated series based on the episode from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Agnes Chu, senior vice president, Content, Disney+, said in the announcement:

Giving new and existing fans the final chapter of "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" has been our honor at Disney+, and we are overjoyed by the global response to this landmark series. While The Clone Wars may have come to its conclusion, our partnership with the groundbreaking storytellers and artists at Lucasfilm Animation is only beginning. We are thrilled to bring Dave Filoni’s vision to life through the next adventures of the Bad Batch

On July 13th, 2020, Redditor[3] StarWars posted about the series in the /r/StarWars subreddit. The post received more than 54,000 points (90% upvoted) and 2,700 comments in less than 24 hours.

The announcement on Twitter[4] by the verified "Star Wars" account received more than 49,000 likes and 16,000 retweets in less than 24 hours (shown below, left).

The Twitter[5] account @ImpSenatePod posted a series of images of voice actor Dee Bradley Baker with the caption, "EXCLUSIVE: Meet the cast for Disney +’s Star Wars: The Bad Batch!" The post received more than 5,800 likes and 925 retweets in less than 24 hours (shown below, right).

Disney cannot salvage the sequels, no matter what. The sequels left nothing to be used for a spin-off or something that cant be covered in the OT or PT, they had nothing original, dont explored the new universe nor gave something interesting to work with. They just recycled stuff from previous sagas. Honestly, among all mistakes done with the ST, i beleave this is the biggest one, cause it left absolutely nothing of interest to expand, explore or even aknowledge that the other trilogies cant cover.
