The Neverhood is a point-and-click adventure video game developed by The Neverhood, Inc. and published by DreamWorks Interactive,the game is known for being entirely made in clay, featuring a character named Klaymen wondering around a mysterious world and discovering its origins.

History

Doug TenNapel came up with the idea of a plasticine world in 1988.In 1995 he announced at E3 that he started his own company, The Neverhood, Inc.,consisted of a number of people who worked on the Earthworm Jim.

The Neverhood, Inc. after a deal with DreamWorks Interactive and Microsoft, it started development. According to the developers, creating the game's characters and scenery required over three tons of clay.
In 1998 it had a sequel titled Skullmonkeys came out,which was a platformer,for the Playstation .

Both games became remarkable also because of their unique soundtrack.

In 1999 a japanese-only game for the Playstation was released,set in the same universe,Klaymen Gun Hockey.

The protagonist also was a playable character in another game developed by the same team, titled Boombots.

In November 2000 and July 2004,two albums were released containing all the tracks from the first two games by the composer Terry Scott Taylor.

Revival/Armikrog

In 2015 a spiritual successor,developed by some of the people who made the original games,Armikrog was released.

Online Presence

Over the years the duology,despite not being a commercial success,gained a cult following.
On Deviantart searching "The Neverhood" it gives over 4K results.

On July 28th 2019,Twitch streamer Vinny streamed the game and created a resurgence in popularity for the series and so did ArhyBES with their parody video published on December 24th of the same year, about Overwatch ,titled "Overwhat" whose animation is based on several tracks from the game :
