History
In October 1992, the first ThinkPad model ThinkPad 700, developed by computer manufacturer IBM, was released (shown below, left).[1] The laptop had minimalist black design and featured signature bright red TrackPoint, a pointing stick which allowed the laptop to be used without an external pointing device.
In 2005, Chinese company Lenovo purchased the IBM personal computer business, with the IBM ThinkPad series rebranded as Lenovo ThinkPad.
As of 2019, Lenovo manufactured Lenovo ThinkPad computers of E, L, T, X and P series, as well as tablet models and laptop-tablet hybrid ThinkPad Yoga.

Fandom
Online, ThinkPad acquired a somewhat cult following, particularly among computer enthusiasts in tech-oriented online communities such as 4chan's /g/ board.[5][6] Starting in 2010s, ThinkPad computers and the subculture formed around them spawned multiple in-jokes and references, such as using pre-Lenovo ThinkPad computers to evade the botnet.
In some memes, owners of ThinkPad models are compared against Apple MacBook owners in a Virgin vs. Chad fashion.
